We met Joel and Brittany about five years ago where we were blessed enough to live by them. They became some of dearest friends and such a sweet addition to our lives. From the very first time I met Brittany, she had a way about here that was so warm and welcoming. They are some of the most genuine people you will ever meet in your entire lives. They WILL be the most incredible parents, and any child that is blessed enough to be placed with them will undoubtedly have all the love, care and more that any child could possibly have. We love the Skousen's dearly, and anyone who knows them can't help but loving them too.
To start off, I'm adopted. I was adopted into the most wonderful family and am forever grateful for the choice my birth mother made to put me into a good, stable family. I know that Joel and his wife would be a wonderful selection. Joel's sister Maribeth was one of my best friends growing up. We spent a lot of time together and I adore their entire family. When I think of the "ideal" family, I think of the Skousen family. They were a family that spent a lot of time together and always had fun activities that I was invited to take part in.
I know adoption would be hard for any mother, but speaking from experience, it can be a very positive experience. I was in a closed adoption, but am now friends with my birth mother and family and enjoy the relationship we have. I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

First off, I want to say that my husband and I are so lucky to have met and become very close friends with this incredible couple after moving to Ohio. I have worked full-time with Brittany for the past year and a half. Thanks to her, she helped me get the job I have today. We work closely together every day, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Brittany is one of the most caring and thoughtful people I’ve ever met. She has this amazing gift of making everyone feel loved and like they belong. Her personality is contagious. They both put so much of their time and energy into helping others, it is truly inspiring! I truly value their friendship. Brittany and Joel are amazing examples of what it means to be christlike. It has always been apparent that they both have such strong testimonies , and are so devoted and dedicated to this wonderful gospel. What a great example they are to many! I´ve only known Brittany and Joel for a few years but I can honestly say that they are going to be the most amazing parents. Brittany has a really fun personality, she is extremely friendly and outgoing, she makes you feel special and welcome. After only knowing her for a few months I invited her to be a bridesmaid at my wedding. Joel is my husband´s best friend growing up, he is extremely smart and hard working, and very crafty. We´d love to live closer to them if the circunstances allow in the future, and I can´t wait to see their family grow like they´ve been wanting to for so long!
I'd like to add my two-cents for Brittany and Joel. My wife and I got to know them early on in our marriage and having spent some time with them, I can say that they are two of the best individuals I've ever met. it gets better though, because as excellent as they are as individuals, they are 10x that as a couple. They have a clear love and respect for each other that makes me want to be a better husband.
I am an over-protective father. I'm the kind of Dad that (literally) plans on cleaning his shotgun when his daughter leaves on every date. I'm the kind of Dad that is skeptical of everyone that wants to spend time around his daughter. I'm the kind of Dad, like most that would give everything and anything for the betterment of my daughter. I can say without reservation that if (heaven forbid) something happened to my wife and I, we could leave our beautiful little girl with Brittany and Joel knowing that she would be taken care, she would be safe, she would looked after, she would be protected and most importantly, she would be loved like she was one of their own. I can't state how wonderful these two are.

I've known Brittany since she was 14. I've been her teacher at church and a family friend for over a decade. She is committed to her faith, her family and to you as a friend. Brittany has a contagious smile and a vibrant enthusiasm for any situation. She is a force to be reckoned with. Few people have her ability to command attention - she's hard to ignore ! I love all those things about Brittany. I love the soft side that Joel brings to Brittany he's the perfect yin to her yang. Brittany has the ability to love openly and freely - she adores her niece's and nephews. Brittany is a mother in her heart. She is a naturally nurturing young woman. She will be an amazing Mother. Joel I do not know as well. This I do know; he is fun loving, kind, dedicated to his schoolwork, comes from a wonderful family and he loves Brittany. Any child blessed to become a part of their family will receive unrestrained love and attention from Brittany and Joel and their amazing extended families. But more importantly will be blessed for eternity to have been given to loving parents. I love Brittany dearly, I love Joel for loving her and being supportive and kind. If you are looking for a family to fully embrace a child, to know that being a parent is this earths highest calling then you would do well to consider Brittany and Joel. Here's the thing. Joel is going to be an amazing dad. I don't know many people who are as interested in life as Joel. He loves to learn things. And he doesn't just learn, he tries it out, dives in, becomes a bit of an expert. He is interesting and fun and smart. But more than that he's gentle all the time, but tough when he needs to be. Nobody Joel loves ever doesn't know he/she is loved. That's a gift, to be able to give your love to other people.
And Brittany is a wonderful partner for him. Fierce and fun, Brittany knows how to stop and work hard and also how to relax. She's dedicated and generous, and willing to sacrifice for the good of her family. My kids are always begging to visit with Joel and Brittany. I know they'll be amazing parents because they are amazing people.

When I would ask her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would talk about different things at different times in her life, but she would always add that she really wanted to be a wife and mother. When she met Joel, and knew they were in love with each other, it was exciting because I could see that her dreams were about to come true. Brittany and Joel are still working on becoming parents. They have planned, prepared and prayed for this to happen. Now it is in God's hands and in the hands of a special mother who will want a wonderful life with two loving parents for their baby.
